Elderly Care: Helping You Deal With the Dying Process

Elderly Care: Helping You Deal With the Dying Process

Add Sleep and Exercise to Your ADHD Treatment

Julio Carr

Medication and therapy go a long way in helping students handle the problems associated with ADHD. However, they are not always enough to ensure the person is going to be at their best all the time. In addition, some patients find the medication effects last longer than they want, keeping them from living life at a normal pace. Of course, reducing the amount of medication is always a risky thing and should be done only with a physician's guidance and approval.

If you, or your child, are looking for a way to reduce ADHD medication, there are a few things you can do on your own that can help the overall treatment of the condition. Here are just a few ADHD treatment options to consider before your next doctor's appointment or therapy meeting.

1. Exercise

Exercising every day can help burn off extra energy and increases dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. All of this results in less impulsiveness and the ability to stay more focused. Make sure to pick an activity you don't mind doing. Hopefully, you will find yourself enjoying yourself. You will learn how to adjust your exercise schedule to fit in with when you will need to be most focused. Of course, you can always take a quick break and do some type of physical activity if you find you need calming yourself or extra concentration. To gain even more effects from the activity, try to do it outside. The added sunshine and fresh air will make things even better.

2/ Adequate Sleep

When your mind is racing and you can't seem to get comfortable or stay still, you may have trouble sleeping. You will find that a poor night's sleep leads to increased symptoms of ADHD. To help you sleep better, and stay asleep all night, here are a few tips:

  • Set a bedtime and stick to it every night
  • Make the room as dark as possible
  • Use some type of noise or sound to soothe and relax your mind.

The better you sleep, the better you will feel during the day and you will be able to focus and concentrate easier.

While it could be said that exercise and a good night's sleep is good for everyone, it is especially important to add them to your ADHD treatment. Once you notice the improvements these activities offer, you can then discuss your medication needs with your doctor.

About Me
Elderly Care: Helping You Deal With the Dying Process

As an elderly care worker, I have witnessed the deaths of many individuals. I have seen family members become angry, sad, and completely silent at the end. I have also seen individuals refuse to see family members out of denial. People deal with death in different ways, and the strong emotions are often unfamiliar and scary. If you have a parent or grandparent who is elderly, then I want to share with you what I know about end of life care and dying process. We are a society that does not talk about death, and this can cause great pain when a family member dies. Learn about the process and find out how to deal with your own emotions and how to love your family members at the end. If there is only a small amount of time left, then I want you to cherish the final moments.
